General View / Synopsis of "Gradation-Project: MASKS"
1
Graduation of a scale
The human torso means in "Gradation-Project: MASKS" an
anatomical and aesthetic term for the parts of the human
bodies and relationships. It is sometimes referred to as the
trunk. The masks includes in parts thorax, abdomen and like
in the project-series: "behind, front, hands, interact, legs,
trunks and varia" of the bodies with narrative environs and
backgrounds ( Venus of Lespugue, Wilhersdorf ... Torso of
Herakles... Venus of Milo... Models...). The series tell the
pathological syndroms of Burn-Out-, Multi-Tasking-Society,
but beautiful parts -isolated - too.

Fragmentation
a) as process of globalisation and individual isolation means
organization of production in which different stages of
production are divided among different suppliers that are
located in different countries and outside the region in
which fragmentation happens. This kind of fragmentation is an
important part of contemporary globalization.
b) Fragmentation - as disparity - refers to the absence or
the underdevelopment of connections between the society and
the groupings of some members of that society on the lines of
a common culture, nationality, race, language, occupation,
religion, income level, or other common interests.
c) In art composition fragmentation is the use of fragments or
the "division of a art ideas ( gesture, motive, theme....)
into segments TO CREATE A INSTABLE EQUALITY in art-projects.

To the Author
Walter Prankl
The computer-generated scenes by artist Walter Prankl The
interactive projection allows the viewer to take a self-guided
tour of a virtual walking of the spaces of derived from
digital manipulations of photography . Prankl presents a
poetic world of colourfull invention to create an intricate
spatial narrative.
Prankl worked with the computer as a formal artistic tool and
means of expression. He combines a variety of traditional
media with computer techniques in order to articulate a deep
concern with the histories of philosophy and art. The artist
also shares an interest in human thought processes and the
interplay between external images in the world and internal
images in the mind. Undertaken as an open-ended investigation,
his art is concerned with transience and states of change, and
deals in surrealistic effects, associative thinking, and
temporal multiplicity.
Walter Prankl (born 1935) is regarded as an "architectural
poet" of new mixed media. His experiments with digitally
reworked animations combine documentary graphics, sculptures,
architecture, photography, and computer-generated imagery,
conflating reality and fantasy. He reduced forms, his mainly
figurative imagery intentionally blurs the hierarchy among
humans, animals, plants, and iconic objects. Filled with
associative, often cyclical image-streams, his work generally
revolves around problems of representation-specifically rules
governing individual and collective memory about what it means
to perceive, store, and recollect visual knowledge in both
time and space.
